Frequently Asked Questions - Why IN8 is Different

A Word About Costs

  • What does it cost to join?
Absolutely nothing! There are no meeting fees either. All our members pay for is their choice from the menu at whatever venue hosts the meeting. This is paid directly to the venue on the day.

Commitment

  • Do I have to do anything?
There is no pressure to attend or to pass referrals just for the sake of it. We like to think that members attend because they see the value in being there rather than compulsion or fear of being censured. When you do attend, the only thing expected of you is to make a short presentation about what you do and what kind of referrals you want to receive. Don't worry about the public speaking bit though, there is training available and the groups are supportive and geared up to help you do this like a pro.
  • What if I can't make it to a meeting?
If you can't make it to a meeting you are more than welcome to send a substitute to speak in your place, but if you can't find one, there is no problem. There is no compulsion to attend, the worst thing that can happen to you through not being there is to miss some business opportunities.

Meeting Time

  • Do I have to get up at early every meeting?
Depending on the group that you join, you may be getting up early for breakfast. However, meetings are held at different times of day to suit the lifestyles and workloads of group members. Many do prefer to network over breakfast, while others favour lunchtime or evening meetings. Choose a group to suit your working and living pattern. If you can't find one, we will help you to start a group in your own area that meets at a time of day to suit you.

Meetings

  • Why do we still meet face to face regularly?
Because the best way to get to know, understand and trust your fellow members is still to get together, talk and listen. There is a value to online interaction, but it is limited in comparison to meeting with real people.
  • Why add the online element?
Mainly for convenience and for 24/7 availability. If you have a hot referral for a fellow member, you won't be wanting to wait 6 days to give it to them. Also, you can find answers to many of the questions that everyone has in the online forum, and the webinars are a really convenient medium for joining in with training events while not having to actually travel anywhere.

Referrals

  • Do I have to bring referrals every week?
Definitely not. There are organsiations out there that will happily count pieces of paper and point to that being the value of membership. We would rather see the real value of business referrals being passed, rather than just moving pieces of paper for their own sake. Everybody contributes to the meeting by being there, it is lovely to see referrals being passed and outcomes handed back, but keeping it real is the key to success.
